Salt lick seems to be pretty popular with visitors to eat bbq, but what about Iguanas on Lake Travis? They have a great view of the lake and plenty of parking. Salt lick also has a pretty nice atmosphere from what I remember.

as for food, bbq or mexican is good. i'm sure u austin guys have heard of this place Hula Hut (http://www.hulahut.com/menu.html), it's one of my favs. they feature mexican and polynesian cuisine...awesome awesome thai bbq fajitas and their huli huli luau platter is a big mix of mexican and bbq.
