Just saw this thread. Great job John! There are a lot of people that will really benefit from the Red Cross Donations.
For those that don't know me. I've been a member of this forum for awhile. The friends that I've made on this forum know that I moved to the Philippines about 6 months ago. Many have sent me messages through the forum and on Facebook since the typhoon hit. I want to take this opportunity to thank them all for their concern. I'm actually living in one of the areas that was severely hit by flooding. I was very lucky that my condo is on the upper floor, but that didn't help me in regards to electricity and water. I was actually without either for about 3 days. Luckily my kitchen was stocked with food and a few gallons of drinking water. I saw first-hand how high the flooding got. Right outside the security gate of the condo, I could see cars almost fully submerged under muddy water. I believe the water on that street was about chest high (I'm 6ft tall).
I was very lucky to make it out fairly easily through this calamity, but thousands of other people didn't have that luxury. I've seen 6' concrete walls literally run over by water. The typhoon hit a little over a week ago and there are victims that still haven't had the chance to go back to their homes because their area is still underwater.
I personally want to thank all those that are attending this up-coming event, and also to everyone that has donated already to the Red Cross.
Again, I want to commend John on setting up this fundraiser.

just to clarify, we will not be asking for monetary donations at the event. anyone and everyone is free to come out and have dinner & drinks, at which point 15% of your food purchase will go towards the Red Cross. We all have to eat, why not come out and support a good cause and hang out with good ppl!
thanks in advance for your support!
