Fuck No! Me and my buddy drove down, we had a blast. Garden City to Miami in 17hrs on the way down 
I stayed in Miami for 3 days and drove back. I would do it again in a second too. Nothing better than driving through the Carolina's in the middle of the night. Didn't see 1 cop. Only bad thing was got pulled over in Virginia doing 82 on I95 at around 1:00am without a soul on the road. Those assholes have absolutely nothing to do.

that's nothing - last time I got clocked in VA was in 3-digit territory. To their credit, the guy was really nice and let me go with only an expensive ticket. Then again, this was MANY long years ago. Anywho, sorry about the ticket and nice drive! 
I've been contemplating a drive down in the spring for a family vaca, but still unsure if I wanna put this kind of strain on myself...
