Folks in the Bay Area, Do you guys know of any good tattoo shops? Planning to get a few tattoo's but not sure where I want to go. Either portraits or tribal sleeves is the work I'm looking for. For a good artist, Do rates usually start at 100 a hr? Let me know, thanks.

Try Elmwood. LOL!

Two place I've heard people recommend are Dragon Tattoo on San Carlos and Marks of Art on Meridian. I've been contemplating on a tat too but have not decided what to get yet.

Hey John, I actually have a family function that Fri so I don't think I can make it. If you and Jerry nail down a time and location, I'll see if I can squeeze it in.

James.. check out Orly at Humble Beginnings Tattoo http://www.hbtat2.com/ in San Jose for ALL tribal work.. he?s kinda the go-to person right now for tribal? I don?t have any work from him, but a ton of my friends do? I have some tribal on my chest from Lilly at Da Wei Tattoo http://daweitattoo.com/ in Santa Clara.. I?ve also got my first two pieces from Dragon Tattoo in SJ on W. San Carlos Street.. Pinky (if he?s still alive) is an old school artist at Dragon.. he might be TOO old to do quality work now?haha

If you want a really nice tattoo studio, I?ve been going to Analog Tattoo http://www.analogtattoo.com in Downtown SJ for all my color work for at least 4+ years.. I have two half sleeves from artist Matt Shamah.. The artists at Analog were all previously from NewSkool Tattoo http://www.newskooltattoo.com/ which is also a quality shop (ask for Paco Excel)? heads-up...the waiting list for Analog and other high-end studio shops can be several months and typical rates for studio shops are $150/hour? street shops where you just pick a design out of a book, the prices will vary depending on size... send me a PM or give me a call if you have any questions..
