We will be meeting at North County Mall in Escondido at 10am. We'll wait between 1.5 - 2hours before we head out for the drive at 12pm. At the midpoint we'll stop at Barona Casino around 12:30pm or 1pm to have some lunch and some gambling. Afterwards, we'll head back on the route to I-15 North. The round trip is about 60 miles. I think we should be done by at least 3pm or sooner. I'm going to drive the route this weekend at the times I mention to see the traffice condition will be like.

For the folks not interested in gambling or have other engagements to go to they can go ahead after lunch. I know there will be a few in our group that will want to stay and play some poker, blackjack or slots.

There is a Starbucks in the Mall at the beginning of the drive. As for there being a Starbucks at the end, I won't know until I do the drive this weekend.

Heezy,
Bad news for you. EBMCS03, blackonblackonblack, and I talked about the drive to Julian. From the start point in Escondido to Julian is 40 miles. After reaching Julian we would have to head back on the same road in the opposite direction when we decide to leave. The other route I propose will take us in a loop where Barona Casino will be the mid-point for lunch and end up on I-15 heading north.

If enough people chime in and don't mind the 80 mile round trip from Julian back to Escondido then we can do that. I just thout that 80 miles might be too long of a drive whereas the Barona drive is 60 miles round trip.

Folks,
80 mile round trip to Julian or 60 mile round trip which includes a stop at Barona Casino? Let me know.

Not to familiar with the area, but I've done some Palomar/julian runs with the S2K guys. The times I've went with them, they met in escondido, then took the 15 to the highway 76 exit. From there they take 76 past Pala, then go up and down Palomar before making there way to Julian.

After eating at Julian, the SD guys take a few more back roads back to escondido. People from the north, such as myself, head the other way.

If everything is planned out already, that's fine, just giving some ideas.

Heezy,
Let me look at what you described today. It sounds like a good alternative to the Barona route.

I've done almost exactlly what you described with E39 M5 folks. but I actually took more back roads after lunch too. that day total milage was over 400!!! it was A LOT of driving. I was pooped, very tiring. It was fun... but not sure if people will be up for that its a lot of work. even if you take out the back roads part its a lot from 15 S to polomar and to Julian.

Julian back and forth 80 miles is "ok" but then thats all you get. Barona for those that havent been would be a nice place to stop. Some might even make some gas money or make a new M5. Aka. Hollywood trash. then he can give me his 550 LOL

I'm going to try to make it, put me on the maybe list.. it will be my car's one month birthday on the 23rd

I have friends in town from Belgium though, but I think forcing them into taking a drive should be doable

Hey Guys,

Bad news...I'm going to have to be in Auburne Hills, MI from Sept. 20-24, for a client meetings. Sorry I'm going to have to wig out on the drive I'll at least be able to stay at my bro's house...and maybe go to another "CARBECUE". They tend to call these impromptu car meets at someone's house, where everyone brings their collector cars and eat all day and check each other's cars out. It's Detroit - expected with all the car manufacturers there...(actually in Bloomfield Hills.) But again...sorry - won't be able to make Sept. 23!
