Every time I drive from Saarbr?cken to Frankfurt (Germany) to see my girlfriend, I pass by Ramstein - the biggest US Navy base in Germany, and see a lot of US spec cars (American and European) on the road. And I've been wondering, why do the US spec cars have the red blinkers in the back and the yellow daytime lights in the front? And while I find the the front yellow lights cool (especially on BMW E90s), the red blinkers in the back are just terrible  They're soo subtle and almost don't get my attention.

Why?

Yes it is - or at least it used to be back in the 80's and 90's (was there for a brief stop-off during Operation Desert Storm)...

Different laws ingenious,

But don't complain, the US E60's are so much cheaper at lots better equipped than in the EU,
or anywhere.

It still is.

Ramstein Air Base is a United States Air Force (USAF) base in the German state of Rheinland-Pfalz. It serves as headquarters for the United States Air Forces in Europe (USAFE) and is also a North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) installation. Ramstein is located near the town of Ramstein, in the rural district of Kaiserslautern, Germany.

Yep, that's it - located next to Kaiserslautern. Apparently, the Americans that come to serve there can bring their own vehicles for free and without any taxes. Which of course has been turned into a business, as cars are much cheaper in the US. As a result, Kaiserslautern is full of American cars, it's so funny
