One of main reasons I think the iphone will remain at the top for years to come, is because it replaces the ipod and its amazing multimedia capabilities. How do you load video/music on the pre, what is playback quality like? I enjoy using itunes for my music, videos, applications and podcasts. I would never want to use amazon to download music. I went from an iphone to a Google Android G1, in less than 4 months I purchased another iphone.

 

i am agreeing with you a lot tonight. i dont care if someone wants to compare palm pres, blackberrys, whatever. the iPhone is the best all around multimedia/communications powerhouse to have in your pocket.

 

The Palm Pre may well have some interesting times ahead as it's presenting itself to iTunes as though it were an Apple iPod... It's reportedly announcing itself as an iPod when connected via USB. Apple is notoriously protective of such things, and some action is sure to follow...

I have a blackberry Bold for work but have decided to purchase the new iPhone (for personal use) based on it's rich multimedia capabilities. I am ordering one for myself and one for my wife tomorrow.

you plug it in via USB and it shows up as a hard drive and you load the music copy files etc.. no iTunes no other app to use.

 

+1 Hope I get mine on Friday! I was due for a contract renewal, so it was good timing for me. $199 for a 16GB....can't wait.

They said I wont get it until next week.

 

+1. That's my plan as well, since I just got the 3G about 2 months ago. 4G will be the next big jump from current models.
