You need to go score yourself some real mortars. The ones we shoot off are the size of cantaloupes. The custom made piping is the diameter of your head and needs to be planted a foot in the ground. It's actually quite scary.

when i was a kid, we set one of those off in the middle of the road, no pipes. we had made the fuse longer so we could run further. needless to say, we put a hole in the street.
