I had a tape recorder held up to the tv speaker recording videos. Then I played them back.... and I was the DJ.

Those were the days. Late 70s, Thursday nights on BBC1, the top of the pops show, trying to get the rest of the family to be quiet as you record your favourite songs on your portable cassette player (about the size of Nintendo Wii) that took four of those big chunky D cell batteries. Oh and once the ghetto blaster got twin dubbable cassette decks around 1981/1982 the mix tapes you could make. Awesome times.

I remember doing that in Jamaica too, the best time was late at night because the DJs would through on the big reel to reel (see Fig.3) and play song after song without interruptions, while they take a nap.

Anybody remember Corey Hart?

Loved the league. Not forgetting Howard Jones and his interpretative dance sidekick:

Howard's uncle was our English teacher at college and would manage to mention him somehow at least every other week

I was seeing Depeche Mode "Perform" this song in concert! I might add in the single most boring concert of my life.....4 guys, 4 keyboards and that was all that was on the stage! *yawn*

Loved all of these songs, although loved rock music as well as there were many great songs from German band Scorpions and many many other rock bands!!! who can forget the "
" "
" "
" etc etc.... Queen was also a great band that I loved as well "
" "
" "
" "
" are some of my favorites, but this one is my best: "
" ....I know Freddy Mercury was gay, but what a beautiful voice the guy had...

In 1980 I was 16 so I have plenty of LPs and "Maxi"s of the decade.

One of my favorite Maxi singles was the "
" by Toto

I can spend the whole day to re-fresh my mind with great songs of the 80's!!!
