My Ride: 2007 530i. Purchased 6/28/07. Also, Re: Bond, you don?t hold a stemmed glass with the bowl of the glass. The purpose of the stem is to avoid finger prints when you want to view the clarity of the beverage and to avoid body heat from affecting the temperature of the beverage. Use the stem!
The perfect martini is seven parts gin to one part dry vermouth. I prefer Tangueray and Stock, but only a dash of the Stock. One olive is left in the glass so as to keep count of how many tinis are consumed. By the time I have accumulated two olives, there is no longer any room for the Stock.
BTW, the original Bond tini was made with both gin and vodka. Yecch!

Agreed, you should hold a cold drink by the stem. 007 always drank them fast it seemed--always had a chick to nail or a bullet to dodge--so maybe body heat wasn't a concern. Red wine, cognac, armangnac, should be held by the bowl to warm the drink and release aromas and flavors, of course.
BTW: You've brought up a pet peeve of mine: It's Tanqueray with a "Q," not a "G." Whenever I hear someone order TANGeray, I believe the bartender should give them the powdered orange drink that astronauts like.
Also, Tanqueray Sterling Vodka is quite nice and makes it easier to fool people into thinking one is drinking gin, what with the name recognition and all.
