I head the legal department of a privately held company with operations in the US, UK, Germany and Australia. Was in investment banking for several years, ergo the userid. I am also better known by my staff as the "d*#! head in the US, the dodgy F#*k in the UK, something indescribable in Germany and who knows what by those Aussies.

What does everyone do for a living? I've been noticing that a lot of people have 545's on this board, and some post pictures that include their homes, which are very nice homes. So, these pictures had me curious, what does everyone do for a living, and how the heck can I get involved??

Me-> I'm a software engineer, but looking to move away from that into Finance, probably as mortgage broker to start out with.

Born was a silver spoon, married to a silver spoon. Jack of all trade, master of none (one exception, I do have an MBA degree). Currently working as a technology consultant. Have startup business partnership on the side. Just trying to make it in life.

Tip: you should never peek into someone's pocketbook and try to figure out where the contents come from, it is tacky. A lesson my parents taught me many many years ago. You should not presume someone's wealth/worth by what type of work they do. It's always been a pet peeve of mine when you meet someone new at a party or social event and they ask, "so what do you do", it's like they will use that information and compartmentalize you.

Great thread - just found it and I feel honoured to be in such diverse and distinguised company.

As for myself, European Technical Director for an IC design company. Our customers are the likes of Intel, Nokia, Motorola.

This one really made me laugh though....

So if I worked my ass off flipping burgers at McDonald's, you won't feel so honored?
