Well, I just had my worst driving day on Sunday with two tickets in one day. 74 in a 60 and then 69 in a 55. The first one was quite stupid as the two lane highway was deserted which means my Valentine 1 won't pick up anyone else getting "shot" with radar. I should have been more careful. The Highway Patrol came over the hill, I saw him, the detector went off but too late. Nailed. The second one was returning and I mistakenly thought the construction zone 55 only applied when workers were working. Wrong. Got hit by laser which gave basically no warning.

Bottom line, defensive driving for one and deferred adjudication for the other. My last ticket was 4 years ago and I subsequently get two in one day. Sucks. I am convinced the second one was because I was in a BMW as there were plenty of other people around me going as fast if not faster.

That's the main reason I no longer use my Escort detector - it made me less observant of the road ahead, and I actually got more tickets when I used the radar detector than without it.

Sorry to hear your bad luck. My only comparable story was once on a business trip, I got a speeding ticket on my way into Paducah, Kentucky, and then the next day, got another ticket on my way out of town, very nearly in the same place.

Doh!

I also got 2 tickets in one day once. One ticket for 70 in 55 on my way into work, one ticket for 65 in a 55 on way home from work. I even took a different route home to try to avoid the "speed trap" that caught me on the way into work. The trap had moved by that point. Bad guess on my part.

I ended up claiming speedo was off by 10 mph, and got the judge to toss the 65 in 55 ticket. I got a loca dealer to sign off on the messed up speedo. I went into the dealer and said "I think my speedo is broken." him: "by how much" me: "10MPH" him: "Let me drive it and do some tests" 15 minutes later: "Yep, looks like it is 10 mph off. Here's a service note stating as such. that'll be $75 for the inspection."

cha-ching.

Good luck. I know the feeling you had when you saw those lights go off a second time.

Any way you could plead out in probate/traffic court? You will still probably have to pay the fine, but at least you won't get the points on your license.
