Man, for the first time in a while I was able to go fast for an extended period. Usually you can go fast but then you have to slow down because someone pulls into the passing lane that isn't going that fast. Then thye get back over and you accelerate again. This happens over and over. Well this morning I went to the Frankfurt airport, about 83 miles away, and was able to set the cruise control at 140 MPH for about 15 to 20 minutes. I pegged it at 154 several times too! It was great!

Anyway, I just thought I would share my joy of the open autoban...

Is that not bad for the engine to run it at 140mph for an extended period of time like that?

BMWs are designed to do that

I've driven for 6 hours straight at an average of over 120mph several times. One time was a 400 mile trip in 3 hours flat. You can be sure it's not bad for a BMW engine, it can take it.

Same here really. The only unrestricted section of Autobahn near me (within 40 miles) is only about 5 miles long. Good enough to reach VMAX but that's all.

Did about 50 miles today on 200km/u on cruisecontrol (124mph) and i get about 12km/l which is about 28 mpg US.
At 160km/u (100mph) i get about 14km/l which is about 33 mpg US.

Didn't do topspeed today because i hit a deer on friday and i've got a bit of damage (not a lot luckily)
