Planning a road trip down to South Carolina and would rather not put the mileage on my 550. I would like to rent a convertible for about 4 days without spending an arm and a leg. I'd like to keep it at $70-$80 a day. I've searched all the major car rentals online and the only one i found was dollar rental had a sebring at newark airport for $130 per day. Anyone have advice/experience? Thanks.

Amen!! You have to love that they basically say, if you want to beat the crap out of our car, just pay this small fee upfront and it's OK by us!!

convertible rentals are very rare in ny.

zipcar has mini cooper converts for ~100/day if that suits you. (they also have volvo s80 (or is it s60's) and 3 series bmw's for the same price, but not a convert)...theyre still better than anything avis or hertz has to offer.
