BTW, is wheelchair racing in hospitals illegal?
No, but talking about it here is forbidden!

Don get better and keep on going man, keep us informed of "beaten stories"
To the "new" posters from ats77 on down. Thanks much for the good wishes. I think wheelchair racing is a great idea, but not on the streets. Anyway, they wouldn't let me have a real racing wheelchair. And, wheelracing is unsafe on the streets if not illegal. Actually, I want a Hoveround since it has a motor. I think with a few mods I could make it fly. I love the comments about the wheelchair racing and not discussing the topic here. I think the mention of wheelchair racing will be OK if no one but me posts their times, etc. I actually think that I'll be on crutches or a walker very soon. But, I have had a great deal of experience on crutches so I am sure that I won't choose a walker. Besides crutches are macho , while walkers are for old folks. After the bike wreck, I was on crutches for almost a year. I was getting pretty good in the pole vault using them. OK, I'll keep in touch.

Thanks much S1. I do hope that I pass on some useful things. Believe it or not they have you up and rehabing the day of the surgery, and you go home the next day. Best to you.

Znod i know how you probably feel. Even though i am much younger than you i've pretty much been in the same issue. Car crash at 20 yrs old and now i have 4 screws and a plate in my very upper left foot area. Doctors in the best hospital here done only 4 of those surgeries. So in a way or another i'll be following your steps probably and pay for the mistakes i did in the past. All i can wish to you is to recover as quickly as possible with minimal effort and pain. Hope to hear only good news. I don't know how hard it is thjis kind of intervention. What does it consist in?

Good luck! Take care of yourself. That 545 doesn't like sitting idle, let me tell you.

Thanks much BMW and tab. They have refined the operation to the point is minimally invasive so you can get going relatively quickly afterwards. They make and incision, remove the damaged ball and socket, and insert either a fancy metal (e.g., titanium), ceramic, or combo metal/ceramic ball/socket replacement. The official recovery period is about six weeks, but, depending on the individual, you can do more or less during the six weeks.

Edit: Oh, and BMW, I forgot to say how sorry I am about your problem. And, yes, they seem to have a way of catching up with you eventually. I also have some screws in my right ankle from the skydiving thing, but I think my ankle is a OK. Thanks again.
