Just out of curiosity, why don't you use the BMW Bluetooth speakerphone?
About a year ago the dealer told me I had it, but it had been deactivated "for some reason" when the car was CPO'ed. They said they would activate it during the regular maintenance, they forgot, and every time since I have forgotten to mention it (probably because my Blue Ant is in my ear at the time )

Wow, bluetooth is one of my favorite features of the car! It works great and I use it every day. I highly recommend getting yours activated.

The one thing everyone should be aware of is:

If you are involved in an accident your insurance will not pay for the damages. Or they will get the money back from you. And even if you are not guilty you will become at least 50% guilty once they find out you were texting while driviong, or on the phone while driving. And finding out is easy for them, unfortunately.

Here in Geremany we have such laws allready and the insurances make people pay whenever they can. So the fine you might get from the cops is not the problem...
That's an interesting difference in insurance and laws. I've never heard of that in the U.S. Here they will cover any accident but if you're found at fault, they will raise their rates and get the money back in about 3 years. Since the accident info is easily available, other insurance companies will also charge tons if you try and switch.

Just wait until they find out about how they do it here. Then they'll make you pay too.

Exactly - I'm more concerned about the reaction from my insurance company than from the police...
