So, thanks to hurricane Irene a few weeks ago, a bunch of water seeped into the basement and destroyed a good amount of the carpeting we had down there.
In some ways, we were lucky - some neighbors got up to 4-5 inches of water in their basements. However, we're one of the few houses on the block that has a fully finished (and livable) basement. Bedroom, bathroom, living room, mini-fridge, etc. Only thing missing would be a stove.
Anyways, we're re-doing everything down there - no more crappy carpet. They're hard to clean, pain in the ass if/when they get wet, etc. Going on a slightly raised DRYCore floor with laminate flooring on top of that.
So in the process of getting all that stuff... We maxed out all the space in my parent's Dodge Journey, and I loaded up the trunk and back seat of my E60 with rather heavy boxes.
I took a few steps back and glanced - it was as low (if not lower) as pictures of other lowered E60's I've seen on here![](https://5series.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/hyper.gif)
Never thought the few inches in height would make that much of a difference, but damn, it looks even more sexy down lower to the ground. Almost didn't wanna unload the trunk after that glance!
Though I must say, the ride is very different when you're carrying an extra few 100 lbs of stuff in your trunk.
