Strage BMW sighting in london???

Well i was walking along piccadily circus today, at around 3pm, when my eyes were caught by some very nice looking, and never before seen BMW alloys.. Looked up at the car and was like "holy f***", its the new X5. Full production model with no tape or anything , although it was debadged...
Registartion plate was Munich XM 4037
Looked behind it and was in shock again, it was followed by a heavily disguised (front apron, side sills, back end taped) one series with twin exhausts at the sides, 335i style... That sounded very very deep, definitely like the turbo engine. Car was debadged and had no bmw badges on it. Two guys in the x5, three in the 1 series.... Both German cars, with munich registration plates.
So did they come to england by mistake, or are they testing the cars for british roads?
On a side note, i think i also saw Hythe's alpina B5

Very possible, seeing as the British press keeps harping on about the significant differences between UK roads and continental ones, and how bad the potholes are, and, and, and

I like when you say they went to UK by mistake
yeah may be no NAV 
M1? or just 3L engine that wud fly
and for seven they will have a brand new rim we saw that in black and in 20" my guess that they do go round and test them around EU.
