I was pulled over doing 54 in a 40 zone. He did not use radar, he said he used his speedometer to match my speed and came up with the number. Guys can I fight this? What are my chances? should I just pay it off?

How much and how many points? I'd fight it. They'll probably eliminate the points, but keep the fine, which is not that bad. Do you have a radar detector in your car? Where was this exactly?

they can do that... I have given this advice before... pay the 150 bucks or so and higher a traffic lawyer. It will prob be cheaper then the fine, and you likely wont get points. it isnt a sure thing, but almost always works if your record is clean or the cop made one obscure slip up

Take it to a "ticket lawyer" and forget about it! Done it myself several times. Of course every incident is different, but I have always had HAPPY results going to the "ticket clinic". This is in South Florida anyway. Not sure how this works in other states.

In NY if the police rely on their speedometer to corroborate their visual estimate, at trial they must provide certification that their speedometer was tested for accuracy immediately before and immediately after the alleged infraction.

Depending where you were ticketed and if you plead "not guilty" you may go before an arbitrator. It's an opportunity to speed up the judicial process (collect money faster - not necessarily move the speed of justice) where you can negotiate a lower point penalty or fine.

Do you think there are any other circumstance(s) about how you were driving or the area that made you a the officer's choice for a speeding ticket?

That's what they call "pacing" They are the easiest tickets to fight in court, get a traffic lawyer and he'll probably be able throw out the ticket...

Ha ha. You won't hear jack from me on this as I don't know the traffic law at all. But if it were me, I'd hire myself a "ticket" lawyer.
