Please post pics of your radar detector mountings. Is there a clean way? I've always seen them in cars with unsightly wires hanging everywhere.

Get a traffic lawyer to file for "Trial by Declaration". Trial by Declaration does not require court appearance. You can get out of radar or photo tickets most of time. It's about $500.

I recently got a photo ticket in California (first ticket in about 10 years). I won the case.

The point is we shouldn't have to be humble and give thanks to any law enforcement officer when we are pulled over for speeding. Why can't big brother just go away and leave us alone?
Studies show that in Germany where folks are allowed to drive 120 mph there are no more accidents or fatalities on the highways than in the USA.
Just an easy way for the locals to make an easy buck off of us.
These encounters shouldn't exist in the first place.
Let 'em spend their time getting the murders, rapists and child molesters.
Why bother driving a BMW if we have to be afraid?

The reason that autobahn has a lot lower accidents and fatalities is that cars only pass on the left lane. Just flash your lights, the slower car automatically moves to the right. That was neat, when I was driving my 545i from Munich to Vienna.

I've nearly been pulled over twice since I got my 5 in July. I like to go fast ( below 100 98% of time though)

I'm now convinced..

Last had a passport/escort detector back when I had my E36 325i. Saved my a_s many times.

Where's the best source for Valentine1 and what accessories are recommended?
Valentine only sells direct:
http://www.valentine1.com/

Get the V1 and the concealed display--see link in my post above for my install.

Got caught doing 105mph once when I first arrived in Boston. I didnt know anything about speed limits and fines....coming from indonesia where one would just pay the cop 20 bucks and move on i dont know anything bout US driving laws. I got slapped with a $1225 ticket on I-90 westbound. 105mph in 45mph work zone, double fines plus 25 bucks no seatbelt. Stupid me then was driving the X5 didnt know what to say so just stared blankly at the cop. Paid up the ticket resulting in me having to eat instant noodles. In MA it's 10 bucks per mile over limit...Friend got a $1000+ ticket on same highway too with his new 530i (not a forum member)...doing 140+mph....so judging from what I know I do not think in MA people go to jail for going too fast....they just pay crazy amounts but nowhere near the amount in CA as described in the first post. I also find that number hard to believe. $6-7K...majority of people dont even earn that much a month....crazy.

Having said that, in MA I think the only way you would have gone to jail is if you get cited for reckless driving. last year there were tons of construction on I-90 both ways from Boston to I-95 exit....so there were cones in the middle of I-90 placed perfectly for slalom. Idiot me thought no one would be present and 2am, so I slalomed the cones at 60-65mph in my 5000lb cayenne Out of the blue a statey came over and gave me a reckless driving charge, criminal offence. car got towed to watertown and I ended up posting $40 bail. Long story short, I appealed for "continuous without a finding". If i dont get a criminal charge within 6 mth, charges would be dropped and thats what happened.

So I would think in MA no one goes to jail for speeding...only for reckless driving I guess...

Only place I went to jail for speeding once was in connecticut. On my way to NY with my new car in the summer. Saw a black 545i on the highway...i think it was I-95 near milford. Was so excited to see same car and color as well I gunned the accelerator and the 545 was behind me, no racing, cruising at 95mph. (Wonder if that car with CT plate was a forum member. Caucasian middle aged man). car got off and 2 exits later I was caught. V1 couldnt help since it was a laser gun. Cop puts me in jail and warned me that in CT, anything above 85mph in a 55mph zone would put me in jail and after emptying my wallet realizing I have 700 cash, he purposely placed my bail at 700 bucks. had to pay 2K for an awesome lawyer who somehow (bribery maybe??) got me off the hook clean, and I really mean clean, even got my bail money back (after 2K for lawyer  )

I dont know for other states, but MA seems to be less stringent compared to CA or maybe CT......but still not a good place to speed. Looking forward to spend my honeymoon in Germany

Stream - That is a nice set up...I am defineatly going to look into that during the Holiday's.

FYI...If you want to speed, try the Arizona highways. If you get caught you can plead the officer for a "waste of natural resources" ticket which used to only be a $25 citation! Not sure if they still have this option though, this was 2 decades ago when I was wildcat at the Univ. of Ariz.
