Fellow geeks and wireless netwrok users, beware:

Owned...wow

Doesn't matter I use WPA2 - Enterprise with RADIUS authentication through my PIX 515 and even my hacker friends have failed. If you use lesser encryption methods expect any 10 year old with some free time to break your security.

WPA2 + RADIUS + OTP = FTW though might be a bit overkill...

OTP for home networks? That might really be overkill.

Well, networking is how I make a living so it's not overkill for MY home network - which also includes: Cisco 7206, Cat 6500, 2x3750, 2x2950, plus about 16 D-Link enterprise switches. I like to test at home (last one was an OSPF design test for the Vancouver olympics)

Feel sorry for your wife. Bernice won't let me put a server in our place. She's a party pooper.

Use WPA2

Put your wireless on its own segment and firewall it from the rest of the network

Treat it like it's public and consider it unsafe

Use some form of remote access VPN to connect to an "inside" wired host/gateway whenever possible on WiFi

I've never tried but I wanna setup a spare server and access point and try to crack WPA2. I wonder how long it would take

My wife has no problem with it, I bought all the equipment (bare chassis' the blades came from friends at Cisco) before we were married. Now I have my lab and since I already have CCNP, MCSE, CNA, and A+ certs I am working toward CCIE. Then working on getting PAID!!! (it helps that my mom is a CCIE)

Your mom is CCIE. Wow. We live in a condo so I understand there's not that much space. Definitely when I get a house I'm having a dedicated lab so I can play with everything.
