for cell phones, first thing u do is yank the battery out as fast as possible and then throw the phone inside the freezer. I am serious. That's the quickest and safest way.

I actually dropped my key the first week I had my car in a (clean) toilet at my friends house, and to my surprise nothing happened. I think when BMW designed the keys, they made them waterproof to a certain extent

Really? That sounds totally counter-intuitive. Water expands when it freezes. I can visualize the bulging case and cracked display of a previously nice phone.

As for putting the key in rice to remove moisture - does hot fried rice count? I have some left over from chinese food
