So I've been looking for a 2nd car, mostly to heavily mod and maybe have as a track car. I've been mostly looking at a n54 motor to run with jb4 and e85. I managed to find a killer deal on one with one kicker, it has a salvage title. The seller has 100% feedback with 1000 cars similar sold. It was purchased from a insurance company and they replaced the hood, bumper, and fender from a front collision, the cooling was intact. I figured I'd ask here, but am I out of my mind to even consider such a car? Has anyone had any experience with a buying a salvage title bimmer?

The other loophole is I wouldn't be able to see it in person, and I'd have to have it shipped. Its pretty much exactly what I was looking for and almost 10k cheaper. My other concern is how insurance would work with something like this.

i always deal with these cars
nothing crazy if you know how the car looked before or what kind of damage it had
i used to have e39 m5 with 14000 original miles with light damage in the back , i just purchased e60 535i salvage title
but sometimes if you dont know what happend - you screwed big time , ...try to put vin in copart.com or iaai.com search field to see if it will pop up damaged

Cool thanks for the info. The car I was thinking about actually got snatched up pretty quickly. It was a 09 135i with 30k miles for $16k.
