Yea I caught on too late as the tension was killing me to get this off. OUr Range Safety guys started going wishy washy on us with questions on "broken" versus " scattered" clouds and 6000 foot ceilings and so on - so I was focused on MY weather guy - Clay; poor, poor Clay

Gary may have been a better choice today. But it all ended well.

Been pretty quiet launch wise... So glad to let you all know that we have activity scheduled for tommorow.

ATLAS V liftoff is targeted for 4:27 p.m. EDT (2027 GMT) on Thursday from LC 41 at Cape Canaveral (No, you guys in California won't be able to see it). Launch could occur as late as 7:16 p.m. if problems crop up.

Atop the rocket is the ASTRA 1KR spacecraft, which weighs 9,548 pounds. That's equivalent to three Volkswagon Golf automobiles, officials from satellite-operator SES ASTRA note.

It is one of the highest loft launches to occur for many years and that is why more people may have a view. The sun will be shining on the booster so that may help visibility as well

Perfect launch yesterday .

But we had a scrub on a West Coast Launch

1030 GMT (6:30 a.m. EDT)

This morning's launch of two cloud-studying environmental satellites aboard a Boeing Delta 2 rocket was scrubbed due to a last-minute communications glitch.

Countdown clocks were entering the final 60 seconds before the planned 1002 GMT liftoff from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California when the abort was called.

"Hold, hold, hold," a launch team member commanded.

The primary and backup communications links between the CALIPSO spacecraft and its ground support network in France were lost simultaneously, NASA spokesman Bruce Buckingham said. Controllers required the communications path, forcing the launch to be stopped.

Rescheduled for Saturday at 3:02 AM Pacific Time

Window is one hour long. Weather forcasters claim 40% chance of weather no-go for tonight.

Now next up is NROL on a hugh Delta IV rocket

Liftoff will happen Tuesday, 27 Jun, sometime between 7 and 9 p.m. PDT (10 p.m. and midnight EDT; 0200-0400 GMT). The actual target launch time has not been revealed.
