just wondering, mostly for catholics, if there's anything what are you guys giving up for Lent?

my girlfriend told me to give up the forums.... but i dont think i could do that

Exactly!! Needless to say Lent is not very difficult for me. I generally consider myself Catholic Lite. Anyway, Happy Mardi Gras to you as well. It was a long weekend between the parade I ride in and taking the kids out to the rest of them. Looking for some quiet time here at the office today, but unfortunately it is not quite working out as planned...

Sounds like we're on the right track here

I found out recently that certain dark ales (calle bock and dubbelbock) were actually invented by Austrian and German monks specifically to be consumed during lent - solid food was abstained from during lent, but liquids were not, and bock beer is packed with nutrients. It gave them all the nutrition they needed to cary out their daily chores!
