I'll do up to 300 or so, one way, in the car. So Detroit, Indy, Milwaukee are all drives. One day I drove from Chicago to Detroit for a meeting, and then back at the end. Not an every-day kind of commute, but do-able. Far more pleasant than getting bossed around by people in blue uniforms at the airport, and then getting a weather delay that leaves driving faster anyhow.

vip reception at the airport here is 55euro. You come in and are taken straight to the airplane... why bother to wait in line and queue

Until the advent of $200 roundtrip between Virginia Beach, VA (work) and Titusville (Kennedy Space Center), FL (home) I always drove the 750 miles one way. I'm just sorry it was not in my 6er. My best time was 10.5 hours, but I'm sure the 6er would have cut that down some Did that every 2/3 weeks for 3 years until Southwest showed up with NS $200 flights.
Prior to that it was 620 R/T miles every weekend between Warminster, PA (work) and Virginia Beach (home). Always drove that route for about 3 years. Do the drive

Round Trip about 850 miles, no problem, V1 proved its worth again. Took about 5 hours each way. Could have gone faster, but still had my winter tires on.
