Hi guys, I'm from the east and we're planning to go CA on June. I need to rent a car for a week, as i was searching, i noticed that most companies only offer american and korean(Hyundai) cars. I'm hoping someone here knows a rent-a-car company with japanese or german(VW) cars close to SAN.
Also, where would be a good beach to surf that's close to LA? TIA!

Hertz rents the Infiniti G37 and M37 and the Audi A6 and A4 (base engine), among others, from its Prestige collection. I've rented each of them

But my fav Hertz rent a car is the 436 bhp Corvette ZHZ. About $150 per day and worth every penny.

i would love to rent a corvette but i'll be needing a car with a bigger capacity. I'll check out hertz for the Audi's for curiosity, but honestly i'm not planning to spend alot of cash on rent-a-cars, so i might go for the avalon or cc/Gli/passat if i can find one. Thanks sdg!

The Vette's cargo area is long and wide -- just not deep. Good for long items and but extra tall ones.

Enjoy SD. I've been there before. It's a lot of fun.

I can tell you from experience that the Audi A6 will rent for considerably more than the Avalon. But the Infiniti G37 will not be much more than the Avalon. I rented a G35 for a week and drove with my wife all the way down the PCH from San Francisco to the Hearst Castle area and then back up and through the wine country in Napa/Sonoma and it was a blast -- tons of fun to drive and very fast -- the closest car in driving experience to the BMW 3 Series. I also repeatedly rented the Avalon about 10 times when I had a case with depositions in Albuquerque, NM. I hated driving the Avalon. It is slow and has just about the most dead suspension and steering I've ever felt. Trust me, rent the G37. It really is only incrementally more than the Avalon, especially if you are renting for a week. You will be glad you did..

A great surf spot is San Onofre. It's a little past Oceanside, and not quite in Los Angeles more like South Orange County, but it probably has the best waves. Good luck and have fun!

Noted, thanks dbae. most of my friends are telling me to go to Sta Monica, but i'll see how long it will take from Glendale to San Onorfe. I'm not too crazy about big waves because it's my GF first time to surf.
