my true hobby is flying RC helicopters... 3D flying (insane flying style)... although my new (to me) 530i is taking over all my hobby funding!

anyone else fly them or is into the hobby in some way? I've got invested about $2500 in only one of my three helis... ( a 90 size and a 50 size and an micro electric )

Raptor 90 SE
Raptor 50
Trex 450

when they hit the ground it hurts (the wallet) they can cost several hundred dollars to rebuild

Very impressive! I owned a petrol r/c heli about 5 years ago. Tried to learn how to fly it, got as far as taking off and hovering and spinning it round a bit and landing (with training gear) but simply didn't have the time to commit to it so sold it. I have watched many videos on Youtube of people performing unbelievable tricks with those things ... would love to see any videos if you have any?

The helicopters are hard to fly...I spent about 20K on the Nitro R/C cars/monster trucks/buggies...talk about maintanence... I still have 5 of them. Here's a couple, the black serpent does 90mph

Flying is great, but jeez the cameraman on the first video sucks. With reactions that slow, ZOOM OUT MAN !!

Another good one ;

Sucky camerawork again though unfortunately, especially at the beginning, but gets better.

I have a model heli, sceadu 50 - not into the 3d stuff but have the odd blat around.

Not done much in the last year or so, as I now have a private licence to fly the real thing. You thought the models were expensive!
