I tell you what, unless you really have your heart set on doing this, I wouldn't recommend it. It is a HUGE commitment. He had his ears surgically cropped, they remove approximately one-third of the ear flap and brace the remainder so it stands erect. Then he had a piece of foam glued to his head and his ears glued to the foam. After a week when his ears healed from the surgery I started the coning process. I used medical grade cloth tape and long swabs(qtips) with wooden shaft http://www.mednetdirect.com/Medical-Cotton...CFQOaFQodyUjX9Q
I taped 3-4 of the swabs wooden shafts together with cloth medical tape. I then placed the cotton swab part down into the ear, not the canal, and wrapped the ear around the shafts, then proceeded to taping up the ear around the shafts. Trimming the swabs to length. This whole process takes between 1-6 months before the ears stand erect which varies from individual dog and breed. I did this 3-4 times daily for almost 6 months. In some cases the ears never stand, in some cases on one ear stands. His left ear took almost six months of taping and re-taping 3-4 times daily before it finally stood on it's own
A dogs natural instinct is to shake their head the instant anything is inserted in to their ear. Getting him used to the whole process took some time. 1-3 times a day he would shake them out of his ears. If the dog doesn't have constant 24 companionship I would not recommend this process. Even with constant 24hr companionship he still managed to shake them out of his ears so you can imagine what would would happen if the dog was left alone.

Here's my 70lb English Bulldog Crumpler. As you can see, he is very spoiled.
