I would ask fellow lawyer, Scott. Craig should be a lawyer any day now, so you might ask him as well.
Since when did scoping for cars require any legal knowledge?

Personally, I'd go for the 911 Turbo -- classy, blazing fast and a great handler. The M3 and M6 are very different cars so drive em both.

I would be very concerned about reliability issues with an Aston Martin.

Frankly, the GTR will blow away any of the other cars on your list in terms of performance. Some car mags bash its refinement (or, as they claim, lack of it).

Can't go wrong on any of the cars on the list!

I just drove the M3 with DCT transmission last week. All I can say is WOW! If I could only have one car and I wanted a high performance coupe that was confortable enough as a daily driver, the M3 is the car I would get. Before you spend hours on your spreadsheet, just test drive the M3.
I hear you. I have driven the M3 w/DCT, and it is really an amazing car. I drove it back to back w/an M6 and 650, and I actually liked the M3 better than the M6 w/SMG. It may end up being the best overall car on the list. I just have to know that I evaluated everything so that I don't kick myself two weeks later thinking "I never thought to drive the [insert name here]."

I have heard that Audi's DSG is really awesome too, so if I could test out an S5 w/it, that may be an option too.

The only negative to the M3 is that it weighs over 3500 pounds. The lightest cars on the list are the Porsches, which are 400 to 500 pounds lesser than the M3.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. Driven an AM would be awesome, but I would have to get an 8 or 10 year old one to make it affordable, so at that point, it may be more of a money pit than fun.

The 911 is definitely lighter and handles better than an M3. However, I dont think 911's make a good daily driver. They are loud, low, have a very stiff suspension and an unusable back seat. Dont get me wrong, I would LOVE to have a 911 as a second car, but If I could only have one car (and wanted a 4 seat coupe), I think the M3 is the best compromise. It is sporty, fast, comfortable, classy, relatively rare, and a blast to drive. I drove an M3 a couple weeks ago and I just cant get the sound of that V8 and the instantaneous DCT gear shifts out of my head...

Go buy a 911 GT3. A car you never forget, for the rest of your life.
