I always choose Cruise over staying a week over at one place. It is a lot cheaper and you go a lot of places without worrying about accomodation and how to go around the place. St. Maarten is a good place to shop for any electronics. Seems to be better prices than they can offer here in the US. Take a look at Royal Carribean, they have a new addition to their fleight called the Oasis of the Seas. It is the biggest Cruise ship on record. Enjoy your vacation

Thanks for all the info guys, I tried to talk the gf into a cruise, but she was set on St. Maarten. Booked it today!!!

Orient Bay is pretty close to where were staying, which is Maho Beach Resort. Going to plan a day trip to Orient, the pics were gorgeous, thanks again Dave!

Mrs. MacSid and I honeymooned in St. Maarten, and stayed at the Maho Beach Resort... and we loved it. The iconic Sunset Beach Bar is right across the beach but I heard that it is facing closure after the local authorities refused to renew the owners' residence permit. There is some great dining to be had in Marigot on the French side, and a day trip to St. Barts is real easy to do.

Here are some pics we took while taking in the views from the Sunset Beach Bar / Maho Beach...

Maho Beahc is also great if you're an airplane nut ... (Maho Beach Resort is the yellow building in the background of the second pic)

I was in Anguilla in June and loved it so much we booked it again, at the same time in 2009 AND 2010! You can take a water taxi across from St. Maarten to Anguilla, and it is worth it even if only for the gourmet food! Many 5 star type restaurants hidden in what appear to be shacks on the beach, but the food is AMAZING! Throw in the #1 beach in the world (Shoal Bay) and it's certainly worth the trip one day! On another note, travel insurance is probably a good idea when traveling into the Caribbean this time of year (pesky hurricanes etc.) Otherwise enjoy the hell out of your vacation!!

I did St. Maarten from a cruise. We did a sea kayak adventure across from that airport. There's nothing like being in a small kayak underneath a 757 on a full power take-off! I probably could have thrown my little camera up and hit it.

Thanks for the info flyingpuck and richard, I'll for sure plan a day trip to Anguilla! As for a kayak in the ocean, no thanks!!!

I'm terrified of sharks, I'll go in to enjoy the waves, but not to far out.. and I'd never go out in the ocean unless the boat was 40 foot + LoL
