that's another thing I need to learn. Edit an object (my M3 in the pic) by it self, not touching the other object in the picture.
Hi all

Didn't want to hijack the original thread but thought I'd post these to help.....

EMPHASIZING COLOUR

There are two simple methods that you can use, the first being the use of layers (better to do other adjustments with) and the second being a straight editing of the original photo. I'll detail both....

Method 1

Step 1. Open the photo in Photoshop and select the brush tool from your Toolbox (bottom Arrow) or just hit B on your keyboard. Choose a large hard edged brush. (Click on the drop down next to the shape called Brush in the toolbar and you will see a menu to decide the size and shape - upper arrow). Change the blend mode (next box along in toolbar) to colour.

Step 2. Set your foreground colour to black (press 'D' and see the colour box that is now green in my toolbox turn to black) Paint the photo where you want to lose the colour. To follow straight lines, click your brush at one end, then holding down the shift key click again at the other. You will see a straight edged colour removal.

Step 3. Complete your editing and save the photo. If you make a mistake, just click on the history brush, paint over the mistake area and the original colour will return. If it was the last stroke you made, simply hit ALT+CTL+Z

Method 2

This I think is a better method as you can do a lot more adjustment of individual items. It shows what is possible with layers....

Step 1. Open the Photo and duplicate the layer by selecting LAYER>NEW ADUSTMENT LAYER>HUE?SATURATON.

Step 2. A new layer will be created in the layer palette (see arrow) and a dialogue box will pop up. Move the slider all the way to one side and it will remove the colour from this layer. NOTE: you can also add the adjustment layer by clicking the button at the bottom of the layer palette (see arrow)

Step 3. Set your foreground colour to black by hitting 'D' (see arrow) and slect your paint brush. In a large hard brush begin to paint.

Step 4. Adjust the size of your brush and zoom in to get into the corners and detail points (note brush size at arrow)

Step 5. You will see that the original photo is quite dark so it needs a little brightening. Click on the background layer in the layer palette (see arrow) to make it active and select IMAGE>ADJUSTMENTS>LEVELS. A dialogue box will pop up allowing you to play with highlights and colour ranges through the colour channels. Slide the white slider over to the left slightly and then move the centre slider (midtones) around until the desired effect is achieved, then flatten the image by slecting LAYER>FLATTEN IMAGE and save in format or size you want.

Now....

To get rid of the shadows in the car, there are again a number of methods but here is a quick and dirty one......

Step 6.

Select the clone stamp tool from the toolbox (see arrow). Place curser on the spot you want the itm to be deleted to look like, hold down the ALT button and click that point. Move curser to editing area and when you click it will copy that area

Step 7. Select the healing tool (bandaid above the clone stamp) and perform the same actions again. This will remove some of the obvious copying look by 'blending' the surrounding colours into a more natural look.

Step 8. Add your signature (subway font downloaded from web, layer copied and font size reduced by 4 pixels in black) and done!

Cheers
