Ok, as you can see in the awesome illustration above, that is the road setup. consider the red "I" the idiot and the black "I" me, the awesome and aware BMW driver.
See how all three lanes shift slightly to the left? Well, since I am a good driver I see this and turn my steering wheel to the correct angle to enable my car to continuously travel down the middle of the road
The idiot in the left lane wasn't paying attention and just kept driving straight ahead I just see him close in on my left fender and I legit thought he was going to side swipe me. He comes within like .2 inches of my car and I steer hard to the right to avoid a collision. The bastard keeps driving on not even noticing what almost just happened.
The roads were wet and had I been in a car without amazing stability control, I would have spun out after making that hard right maneuver. So my BMW saved me from a potential crash
Just thought I'd share You have to be really careful out there. It's always the good drivers that have to accommodate for the bad ones.

Uh do we live in the same town?! This EXACT thing happend to me last week! I was going 65, and the guy in the left lane kept driving straight and I almost got sandwiched between the 2 cars!

3 words for you: Welcome to Florida! I have been living here for 15 years and never seems to amaze me how people drive...it's a bit better now since I don't work in Miami anymore! Just be careful out there and the roads are very wet indeed, it's raining cats & dogs...
