I may go hunting in the US (Minnesota) later on this year, but do any of you know what is required for me to be allowed to use a hunting rifle? I will only be borrowing a rifle in the US.. I'd appreciate any answers

I am not from Minnesota and have no experience there, but anyone born on or after January 1, 1980 is required to take a hunter safety course.

I've never heard of restrictions on firearm use for visitors to the US.
You need to be aware of laws regarding firearm transport, and use on public/private lan ds, and obtain any hunting permits that may be required. But you won't need a special permit to use a firearm just because you're a visitor. I would caution that you cordite residue from shooting can trigger the explosive swab-type tests at airports...

If you go hunting in Minnesota later this year bring along some warm clothing from Norway. You will need it.

Hehe.. I've been told so.

I've checked out the homepage of Minnesota's Department of Natural Resources, but I couldn't really find a clear answer as to what is required from me. Hopefully a letter from the Air Force would suffice weapon-wise.

Hopefully there won't be any reaction on a swab-test.. and hopefully, I won't be taken to the side for "extensive screening", which of course is necessary, but it's terribly annoying having to empty a perfectly organized backpack, only for some rent-a-cop to start questioning me why I've got cds with me, but no CD-player (!). And then spend time having some machine analyzing a bunch of tests
