"The accused ignored elementary traffic rules with a powerful vehicle out of a pure desire for speed" - they said this like its a bad thing hahaha well, what I can't understand is: a guy with that much money and a very nice Ferrari - how come he just didn't go to a track?

basing the fine off of his wealth is a surefire way for people to stop reporting what they make, that will destroy socialist countries

either way hes a dbag for doing that in the village. Impounding his car and taking away his license would be more on track with it

Actually, I think it is a pretty standard way of imposing fines for Europe. My friend, who lives in Finland once gathered a 20 thousand (or so) Euro speeding fine (and paid it to keep his car and license). He does not speed in Finland anymore. And there are absolutely no ways of hiding incomes etc. over there - I'm not sure on the specifics, but transparency is very high and basically not showing how much you make results in higher taxes and possibly jail time, so everybody shows what they make. On top of that, the country is tiny, so it is extremely easy to investigate individuals - which the Finnish Gov't does and very successfully.

This way of determining the fine for a speeding ticket in Europe makes me sick.
