I've got these........ Sleek Audio SA One
Great noise isolating, amazing build quality (they're made of rosewood and aluminium) and the sound is better than any in-ear buds I've ever heard. I've had Bose and Shure in the past and these beat them hands down. The cable is replaceable too for only 20quid. So if the jack fails or anything you just replace the cable. Unlike other headphones where you just have to bin the whole unit.

I use noise-isolating in-ear headphones. They lightweight and are better all round for indoor use, on planes/trains, yard work, walking/jogging etc. They tend to need more amplification power. The volume level is sufficient for me on my iPod and iPhone.

Probably/arguably true for their home audio equipment, but their noise canceling phones do work well. I also have Shure and Sennheiser headphones but for air travel the Bose headphones do a pretty good job.

In terms of earbuds under $500, you cannot beat the Shure SE530s. They are astounding in terms of their sound quality.

I have owned noise cancelling headphones by both Bose and Sennheiser and earbuds by Shure, bith Bose and Sennheiser's noise cancelling headphones are effective in cancelling noise and in delivering good sound. But the build quality and druppurability of the Bose ones can't hold a candle to the Sennhesiers. Sennheisers uses metal in a number of high stress locations where Bose uses mere plastic.
