These look real and look to be the same body and lens that were in some spy shots that surfaced a few months back. Nov 1st or 2nd will be the announcement!

I haven't had enough time to peruse dpreview.com.

How many megapixels is the D200 going to have?

Heh, that's probably the least interesting bit of the news. Either 10.2 or 10.4 depending on the rumors. AF seems to be CAM2000 - as the images seem to show 11 points, 9 of which are cross type. Sensor rumors abound - could be NEMOS - the second generation of the JFET stuff in the D2H, others say a CCD of unknown origin. 2.5" LCD, MLU, nice big viewfinder.

The controls really look great. Not sure about much though, still very speculative.

The 18-200mm AF-S VR lens looks hot too.

I'm sure the body will be sold as a stand alone, as usual, but is this the lens they are selling with the body (as a kit)?
Also, what is the projected price this will launch at?

That lens in a kit would be a good guess, but I haven't heard. My local shop was saying the body should be $1750-ish. That could swing $250 in either direction in my opinion. I guess we'll see in a few days.

Is he some kind of beta tester? There are some early cameras that were/are in the hands of people, but if Hobi is not one of these chosen few, it was probably the D2X.

The 12Mpxl figure is part of the grist in the rumor mill, but it's not being looked upon as realistic. I'd love for you to be right though. 12Mpxl would be better.

Hobi has a D2X...

not this (taken from the link)

Seeing this I regret my switch to canon again

Or should I get a 5D now, that has full frame sensor and 12Mp and keep my 20D for the
tele stuff?

The 18-200 sounds cool, one lens for everything.
But, still have serious doubts about these huge range zooms in terms of CA and barrel distortion.

Tried a Sigma and a Tamron 18-200 although probably not Nikon quality they were crap.
The new canon 24-105 seems more like a real world lens to me.

The one possible saving grace is that this nikkor looks huge. Like, ginormous - it might be a good lens. It's got VR too which is nice. The first leaked set of photos helps give you an idea of just how big it is.
