Wow! F2.8! That must be more than 1000 bucks each
Current model 400mm without VR that I just got is US$7,000 so I expect the new model to be around the same price. I just paid US$1,000 for the 12-24 F4, so 14-24 F2.8 is going to be more than that - won't know until next month.

...and you guys think car parts are expensive

Has anyone ever noticed that Nikon shooters tend to use Lowepro bags and Canon shooters tend to use Tamrac?
Canon with Lowepro Slingshot here...

Very nice stuff. I will have to post some of my shots from the Canadian and US Grand Prix races for critique.

Of course who wouldn't want a 1D, but it's also 7x the cost of a 40D body. Unless your a pro studio shooter, I don't see how one could justify the cost... let alone the L-lenses to compliment.

Who's going to get it?
I spent the last month looking for a D200 body to upgrade my D100. Now I have to wait until November for the D300.

I have both Tamrac and Lowepro bags depending on what camera I'm using and where I'm going with it. I have nothing against Canon, I just have too much invested in Nikon glass and Nikon bodies. My 35mm Nikon equipment includes an N90s, F5, D100, 20mm f/2.8, 50mm f/1.4, 60mm f/2.8 micro, 105mm micro f/2, 135mm DC f/2, 28-70mm f/2.8, 80-200mm f/2.8 and a few others that I don't use often enough to remember.

I don't really see Canon vs. Nikon like BMW vs. MB. Both Nikon and Canon come with Manual options.

I agree. It's whatever lens system you invest into, can't really go wrong either way.
