I've had my D70 since a couple of months after it was rolled out to the market and am still really happy with it. Been looking for an excuse to upgrade to a D200, but now I shall have to look closely at the D300

2x D3's on order for me to upgrade the D2Xs's. And of course last Friday I received a new 400mm F2.8 and a 12-24 F4 and the same day Nikon also announce a 400mm with VR (which I had given up on waiting for) and a 14-24 F2.8 This may be the shortest amount of time I have ever owned two lenses before I replace them.

Return those lenses! Sounds like you are a pro.

Has anyone ever noticed that Nikon shooters tend to use Lowepro bags and Canon shooters tend to use Tamrac?

Interesting observation, because I'm a Canon shooter and use Tamrac bags! Haha.

+1 I use a Tamrac bag too, I think itis the trend what Canon and Nikon users go for, they are 2 diffrent groups just like BMW & MB

Yep I'm a pro sports shooter. You can see some of my stuff at www.ssp.net.au

and I nearly have as many Lowepro bags and lens cases as I have lenses - which is saying something

I've had my D70 since early 2004, so the D300 is arriving just in time. I can't go to the D3 since I now have the only two lenses I find I really need...in the DX size: the 12-24DX and the 18-200DX. It certainly has reduced the amount of stuff I carry around by having just two lenses.
D3 has 3 shooting modes. Full-frame - FX format (36 x 24), 5:4 format (30 x 24) and DX format (24 x 16)

The camera is smart enough to know when you attach a DX lens (I have a few) and automatically sets itself to DX mode - handy feature when you are swapping between DX and non-DX lenses. In my case (sports) - I want the DX function for the crop ratio (1.5) so that my 400mm lens is effectively a 600mm and my 500mm lens is an effective 750mm lens.

Full-frame is nice, crop ratio is a must for me in sports, but 11 frames per second and 51 focus points is AWESOME. They will sell these by the shipload
