After working 7 years for the Frankfurt Galaxy and winning 2 championships with them today is a sad day fo rme, but it was not unexpected.
Some great players have been here, like Jake Delhomme and Kurt Warner, but it was just too expensive to continue.
At least I have been part of it and got two rings... and sweet memories.

It was a business decission and allthough I don't like it I have to agree. We were waiting for this some time allready. And when the commissioner retired, it was clear that NFLE will be discontinued somewhen in the near future. Tagliabue was the one that made the team owners vote FOR NFLE. He loved it, and now that he's gone...
Since they have started in 1991 as the World League of American Football NFL had invested more than 400 million USD. And over here the attendance was not very good and got worse every year, allthough there was a lot happening on game days. In World Bowl XV, hosted two weeks back in Frankfurt, they had Meat Loaf performing in the stadium. But, when you average 20,000 people per game in one season, and the media is basically showing: NOTHING, except a one hour summary at 1 AM... they HAD to discontinue NFLE.
It really was time to pull the plug.
I have been working with the Frankfurt Galaxy from 1997 thru 2003, left after winning the World Bowl, on top, as a champion, and I've got two rings... Over the last two years I was not even following the league on the internet, haven't been in the satdium anymore. Everything had changed over the last years and it wasn't like in the 90's anymore.
However, I have made friends with lots of people and I am still in contact with some of them. The memories will live forever, and maybe I will be seen on the sideline in an NFL stadium somewhen.

Just thought the NFL has used the NFL Europe almost as a minor league. Using it to develop players that were not ready for prime time. Now thats gone, maybe it could hurt the league down the road. A player like Jake Delhomme would have had a much tougher time getting his chance in the NFL if weren't for the NFL Europe.
