Just when I thought NY can't get any worse I see this.
http://open.nysenate.gov/legislation/bill/A10315-2011

New law that is almost passed in NY. Now your car cannot pass inspection if you have window tint.

Looks like NY is going the way NJ went a few years ago. No problem for me, I know placed where I can pass and I have a DMV approved note but still a problem for 75% of the people who have window tints. At least in NJ you could tint the rear windows, in NY you cannot even tint those.

The whole "protects the cop" statement is 100% BS, if someone wanted to harm the cop, tinted/no tint would not stop them.

In my area you pay 30k taxes, have absolute shit roads, insane tolls, insane gas ($4.57 for premium), useless cops, etc, etc.

Time to register the cars out of state.

i don't think many people pay attention to tint laws unless your front side windows are limo tinted.

If you are a resident in Cali and register your car out of state, Cali DMV will tag you hard. Check your local laws.

Move out of NY then if you don't like paying so much for everything, thats a ridiculous law.

Seems liek that pass laws in NY just for the fun of it, there are currently so many laws that all of them cant even be inforced.

Did you even read that law? It only says that checking the window tint has been added to the inspection and those that are "illegally tinted" don't pass. It doesn't say that the windows can't be tinted, just that they can't exceed the allowable limits and pass.
