If you're going to Leipzig and you're a proper petrolhead I would also go to Dresden, which is almost next door and see the VW Glass Factory. It's a pretty cool place, you get to ride in a Phaeton simulator and see not just the Phaetons but also Bentleys being put together. To give you an idea - some of the parts arrive by a cargo tram which runs on the municipal public transport system tracks. The factory floor is parquet and it's a glimpse into 22nd century manufacturing. My kids and I really enjoyed it. Google "Dresden Glass Factory" or see this:

P.S. vw factor looks awesome!! I couldn't believe a car factory can look this good.

Gee!! Leipzig just return my email saying my request is not possible due to their production. Only second half of May is available for tour. I guess I had to cancel all the factory tour...
