So how are things going today Mel?? Let us know! I myself am going in for surgery tomorrow morning and have been on the other end of this equation. I'm trying NOT to upset my girls too much as they always see Daddy as strong if not invincible!

Same here, it scared my daughter seeing me in pain after having those screws put in my foot last month. Good luck to you too.

Good luck Dave, and thinking of you and your son Mel. Steveadp--what a b-day present! I remember Lightfyter's x-ray, too! Wow, things seem to happen in bunches on here. One minute everyone is pregnant, the next everyone is going under the knife?

All the best wishes to all involved. -Calvin

All went good.. Thank you everyone for your support.. I have to admit i lost it when they put him to sleep.. they were all wonderful.. specially in pediatrics.. but once they gave him the medicine and his eyes drifted away from me.. i lost it.. i cried.. seeing my guy fade away broke me down and all.. then i had a friend bring me up to neo-natal intensive care unit.. (shes a nicu nurse) and she showed me babies that weighed 600 grams! about 1lb 5 oz.. i cried again, but she distracted me..
surgery was about an hour.. he was peppy afterwords.. and hungry as hell.. lol.. dr said all looked good and i have to go back in 3 weeks..then well be able to tell if he will have to go through this again or not.. (dr said it could take a few times to reduce the vein) time will tell... hes swollen and uncomfy.. but dealing well.. playing video games already .. thanks all!!!! so much Mel

quick edit.. those are pics of our room.. they gave him the corner room with views of park avenue and 77ths street.. i slept on a cot next to his bed.. (horribly i might add) but we had our own nurse, only kid on ped's and they all knew my g.f so we go hooked up..lol.. he had a good time.. said he never ate in bed before..

Glad to hear all went well Mel. In the grand scheme of things, seeing those little babies makes you realize how fortunate you are it was only his hand. I'll never forget the same feeling watching them take my oldest in to get his tonsils out at our local Children's Hospital. We were a little nervous but as we sat in the waiting room, a doctor came out to tell the couple sitting next to us that they though they had gotten all of the tumor out etc. Really made us realize how fortunate we were and thankful it was only his tonsils!
