Good luck to you and your son. I can relate to how you feel. My daughter (who is now 2 years old) had an infection in the arm when she was 8 months. We had to admit her to the local hospital by us as per the emergency room pediatrician, and then her own pediatrician recommended we move her immediately to Childrens's Hospital downtown Chicago. Scared the %$#@ out of me and my wife.

Luckily everything turned out ok, as I am sure your's will be too. Let us know how things turn out when you catch a breather.

Good luck with the surgery tomorrow Mel. I'm sure it'll be fine.

=)

Man... I know I can't compare. Me and my g/f freak out when something happens to our dog and worry like crazy. I think we'll go nuts with our child.

Hey Mel, don't worry. It sounds like you found about the most specialized surgeon there is (I'd never even heard of a Pediatric Vascular Malformations specialist) for the procedure. So, relax, for those guys, this is a routine day at the office. Plus, as a bonus, your son may end up with a cool scar! Girls dig scars and he knows it! Good luck for a quick recovery! All my best, Calvin

Thank you all so much.. yea.. Puck, he may be the braver one tomorrow.. who knows.. i dont care...lol

and Philllllllllll!!!! your a nurse?? kewl.. i got accepted into nursing school, but declined and went into teeth(wish i didnt, but oh well) here is a pic of his right hand.. notice the veins on the last 2 digits his ring and it has now spread to the pinky.. also when he has these "flare ups" as weve been calling them afterwards he is left with hard nodules in the area, dr said it feels like calcium deposits.. I believe what there doing is called Alcohol Embolism? there injecting something into the vein which cause the vein to shrink.. hopefully it will only have to be done once.. but more may be necessary depending on the indiviual..

Good Luck Mel! Everything will be fine...

As the parent of a diabetic seven year old, I know how you feel about being nervous but everytime we go to the hospital and he sticks his little arm for his quarterly blood letting (quarterly blood tests to monitor is diabetes), he is so much braver than mommy and daddy. Your boy will be the same and do great tomorrow...
