My Ride: 2008 Alpine White 550i Sport, Cream Beige Interior, 6-Sp Manual - retired 9/2011
So...
I just got to drive in the first real snowfall of the winter here...26 miles from work, at 1AM, in about 2 inches of the white stuff with our main highway and most sideroads covered. My 530xi tore through it like a champ. I was actually more impressed with how well the brakes slowed the car without any need for ABS, especially when I had to slow rather quickly on the highway for a car that had slid sideways, blocking the 2 right lanes. Pittsburgh drivers!!! (Rudy, you know what I am talking about).
And as for acceleration, it pulled real nice in the deep stuff (gunned it a few times on a nice straightaway with no one around, of course ). I was actually upset that my side roads closer to my house weren't worse off. It is 14 degrees out, so it was actually easier to drive on the powder compared to that 30 degree icy, slush which is more dangerous.
All in all my OEM 17 Conti tires were great, although I could see how this car would truly be a beast with 4 snows.
Glad I didn't put my 19" summer rims back on like I was considering!
