Sorry to hear that but way to keep your cool and not make it worse! We must remember that it is only a car (even if we love it more than anything else)

Don't let BMW know about the damage, or else there goes your trade-in value. I would kill anyone who touches my car.
They can fix the damage.... but BMW will use it against you to make your trade-in worth less when it's time for the next car.
Keep it a secret, if you can.

Wouldn't that be hard to do if there's a police report AND and insurance claim? Hmm..
If I was buying his car, I'd want to know!
And yes, I would freak out if someone did that to my car, but would be less angry if the guy took responsibility (which he did). A-holes that hit and run (dings included) are the worst in my book.

Update: The guy that hit me reported it directly to his insurance and by the time I called him, they had claimed full responsibility and everything was good. My body shop gave me an estimate, the Geico rep from his insurance gave me a quote, and cut a check. I'm scheduled for repair from the 11th through the 15th. No money out of my pocket so far, and I think I'll ride the bike while the car is in the shop. Geico cut me a $100 check for rental car for 5 days. If I ride the bike, I'll just pocket that for my troubles (as told to do so by the Geico rep). I have to say, Geico has been great in this whole process. Not even working through my insurance.
Here are some pics of the damage. Total estimate is right around 1k. After repairs, I plan to clean her thoroughly and rejex her and get the clear bra.
Thanks for all of the words of encouragement. It wouldn't have done any good to get upset, and it all worked out OK. The guy was pretty upset with himself, and he had everything handled on his end, so I'm glad I was cool.

Here is the good side

If only Lomag would have made reflecting stickies, maybe the truck would have seen you
Oh well, glad to see you came out of this experience pretty whole. Bummer that it happened but it could have been much, much worse. Nice job staying cool too -- no reason to get mad since the damage is already done...
