My Ride: 2006 BMW M5
Yesterday in the early morning (about 5am and -10 degrees C of weather and almost empty roads) , I was on the highway going about 100 km/h then in the other lane I saw in the mirror a coming car and it was an M5 e60 (going about 130 km/h). When the M5 was closing and maintained the speed head to head with my car for a few secs..... the M5 guy was about to floor it then I quickly turn off the button of DTC/DSC, put Manual mode and floored it..... we both were going head to head to about 200 km/h then the M5 took the advantage for about half car length ahead!! then we slowed down. The M5 guy with his jaw dropped wouldn't believe that my car is about half length! I am also surprised how capable is the 545i. It was my first time that I raced with an M5 e60. Maybe the M5 driver needs to learn how to drive it.
I can't wait for the Forced Induction!!!! I am pretty sure it will eat alive the M5s.
I wish I had a video to film it!
PS1: I felt the adrenaline running all the body when I raced with him! Very exciting!
PS2: Don't race with a busy traffic.

Perhaps the M5 was running in P400?

The E60 M5 is astonishingly fast in P500 in the heart of its engine's powerband. At speed, no 545 or 550 (unless wildly modded with a supercharger and/or nitrous) can run with one.

yes, that is what I thought probably in P400 and maybe the driver does not know push P500.... but did you know I raced with an e39 M5 before... it was almost head to head.....
Maybe I have installed the Quaife LSD that might be the factor. I dunno.

I was told that Joe from trinity auto with his 545i smoked a modded M5 and AMG63 with his Nitrous System.

E39 M5 should beat your car but not by huge amounts. E60 M5 in P500 versus 545 or 550 equals total destruction.

LSD should make you faster but the E39 M5, at 400 bhp is 100 bhp short of the E60 M5's output. That's a massive gulf.

That is mighty true.

+1 for being in P400 as a possibility and driver's race.
stock M5 for sure Joe will take it running with nos, modded M5 it will depend. I believe with FlyM5's M5 when we went to SLO and with his mods at the time, Joe was even with him.

damn! I want the nitrous! but I am afraid that will ruin the engine...
I wonder a 545i with these mods:
- Nitrous System
- RPI scoops x 2
- DINAN Intake or replica
- ECU Remap
- Quaife LSD
Will that smoke a modded M5?
