Hi guys

I thought I'd share a photo of the Moon that I took recently with my Canon 400d DSLR. The Moon was at it's closest to the Earth a week and a half ago, making it 14% larger than it has been for 15 years .

I hope you like it, thanks for looking.

Adam

Nice! What kind of lens were you using and what f-stop and shutter duration?

Did you get any shots of Jupiter and Venus in the sky earlier this month? I was on my back from Vegas and I was driving when I saw them, but when I finally had the opportunity to shoot at a rest stop, the moon and planets disappeared into the horizon.

A great pic star_man, I mean super.

You should have traveled a lot and got more pics of the moon from different angles as where it was.
But I guess you get them from your friends around the globe.

Cheers guys. Not sure what your post means Ricracing, cannot really make sense of it sorry.

It is a composite image, the Moon layered on top of a star field. It's just a random star field, around a galaxy called NGC 891 that I had from another image I took, nothing of note like Jupiter etc.

Here is my original Moon image, stars were composited onto it at a later date.

The images (stars and Moon) were both taken with an ordinary budget DSLR - a Canon 400d. I used a 1000mm prime focus 'lens' lol - here's a quick pic

As for the Moon and Venus/Jupiter occulation earlier in the month. Well I was working at the time - but managed to nip in and out and got a few shots at a 200mm lens on a static tripod:

I was happy enough to get anything at all given the conditions!

First pic shows Jupiter and Moon
Second shows Venus emerging from behing the Moon

Thanks again for looking.
Adam
