Lost my phone...
#11
Never had any luck with lost and found. Left a laptop charger in a Hilton. Couldn't even get the lost and found folks to confirm they went and physically checked the room. Finally I just quit calling them back. They never once followed up with me as promised.
Hilton in Ft Lauderdale by the way. Great hotel, just make sure you take everything with you.

That sucks. I don't think you're an idiot for thinking someone would return the phone. I found a Blackberry in the parking garage at work last December. Not two minutes after I picked it up, it rang and was the guy's wife. I told her I had the phone and he could drop by my office and pick it up the next morning. He came by, thanked me, that was that.
Do you at least have your contact list saved online by the provider? That's the biggest PITA I would imagine.
Also, if you explain things to your carrier, they'll probably cancel those text charges since clearly you didn't make them--kind of like with credit cards.
Good luck.

I also found someone Blackberry in an elevator. I went into the contacts and called the person. They picked it up from my doorman. I would hope that there are at least a few people out there who would do the same.

Send them a text message "from the CDC" stating they have confirmed you have the H1N1 virus and should consider anything you've been close enough to breath on an infection source.
on a similar note i think its all about what you have been taught. my son found a girls wallet riding his bike one day. he brought it to me, money and all, credit cards and we mapquested her address and drove to her house. the father was so gratfeul, we didnt touch a thing and he gave my son 20$ for returning it. wish more people would just think about how THEY would like to be treated then reciprocate.

Though I am yet to lose a cell phone, (as I'm typing this I'm sure fate will take it from me soon!! ) I have backed it up on my own computer! As for getting the phone back, I wouldn't think it would happen in this situation as the phone has already been put to use by whoever possesses it currently. Sorry to hear about this Trudy, I guess the best we can hope for is that we will find someone else's phone and do the right thing by returning it and HOPEFULLY the idea will snowball from there!

The heck of it is...doing the right thing is usually so easy. But, not the end of the world in this case. Guess I'll get that I-phone I've been wanting. And then chain it to my wrist of course!
