Plasma TVs have very vivid colors. But they consume more power and have a significantly shorter life than LCD TVs. And they weigh more. They also are vulerable to burn in, while LCDs are immune to burn in.

Pioneer Elite.
Only way to go in my opinion.
If you're on a budget, Panasonic makes stellar LCD's, so does Hitachi Directors Edition displays.
There's a few other choices as well you can look at.
Just let us know what you're looking for mainly in a display, also what you'll be hooking up to it.
I used to work at magnolia home theater at best buy.

The Pioneer Elite PRO-111FD is definitely on the list - it's a beautiful display!
The sources will be a DirectTV HD-HDR and a PS3 for games a BluRay (it will soon be supplemented with a dedicated BluRay player).
I'm really looking for a blend of picture quality, design, slimness, good low level detail and good black resolution.

If black performance is very important to you, plasmas do black better than LCDs.

My Ride: 530I Silver gray with gray leather with Premium Package, Logic 7 Premium sound system with Ipod interface, xenon adaptive headlights, Active steering, Power retractable rear sunshade, Comfort seats, Cold weather package and M5 OEM 166 wheels, Sprintbooster. Ceramic Tint all around, Bilstein Sports shocks with Eibach springs, Brake performance Rotors and Axxis ceramic pads.
Pioneer Elite Kuro is my choice. The head unit is separate from the monitor, therefore all hook up goes to this unit and won't be running it behind the monitor. Cleaner look especially if you are hanging it on the wall.

Really? The OLED TVs are already up to 55" ? I thought they were still limited to small less-than-20" size currently. I've been waiting for a big OLED, time I started getting into researching my next buy too.
I guess I am still a couple of years away from a big cheap OLED TV. My wait continues...
